The Town of Mesilla is seeking a Town Marshal.
Manages all operations of the Marshal department. Enforces laws and municipal ordinances. Assists in patrol as needed. Directs plans and implements goals, objectives, policies and priorities of the Marshal’s Department. Manages and maintains the department’s budget. Confers with citizens and Town officials on law enforcement problems. Must have graduated from an accredited college/university with degree in police science/criminal justice/law enforcement or recommended closely related field/or years of experience may substitute. A New Mexico LEA certification is preferred (if certified out of state, must become certified by NMLEA within 6 months of hire). Recommended two years’ experience in grant writing and budget preparation. Must reside or relocate to Mesilla or live within a 10-mile radius of Mesilla limits. Must possess or obtain within one month of hire, a valid State Driver’s License without record of suspension or revocation in any state. Starting salary $50,000 dependent on experience. The Town of Mesilla is accepting applications for an Animal Control/Codes Enforcement Officer. Duties include the capture or proper disposition of any domestic animal, and/or diseased animals; care, feeding and housing of captured animals pending disposition; issuing citations to owners of offending animals. Responsible for enforcing Mesilla Town Code and issuing citations for violations against the Mesilla Town Code as warranted. Responsible for conducting inspections on a regular basis to ensure the Mesilla Town Code is being adhered to. Prepares reports and documents as required. Reviews Mesilla Town Code to become familiar with all aspects of the Code. Starting pay of $17.50 per hour.
Minimum qualifications include: a High School Diploma or equivalent; No felony convictions; no misdemeanor convictions involving domestic violence; a Valid New Mexico Driver’s License; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certification; Good public relation skills; and trapping experience/Codes Enforcement preferred.

The Town of Mesilla is accepting application for a Deputy I (police officer). Duties include patrolling streets, roads and public spaces; general duty police work; issues tickets to traffic violators; conducts crash investigation; responds to reporting crime scenes; writes and files reports of daily activity following each shift; works with other local, state and federal agencies as needed; appears in court as needed; provides security for all Town of Mesilla buildings. Starting annual salary of $33,852.
Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED; college degree in Criminal Justice (preferred but not required); bilingual (preferred, but not required) graduate of Police academy; a valid Driver’s License with verified record of good driving history; no felony convictions misdemeanors involving domestic violence; NMDPS certification; radar certification; ir-8000 breathalyzer operator; standardized field sobriety testing; three (3) years as a certified police officer. Must pass extensive background check.

Must possess a valid New Mexico (NM) Class “B” driver’s license or ability to obtain a NM license within 6 months of hire. One (I) year experience in maintenance and repair of buildings and of public parks. Citizenship in the United States or alien work status documents pursuant to applicable Federal Immigration Laws.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test. Full-time position (40 hours per week) starting $15 .50 or depending on qualifications.
