TRUSTEE STEPHANIE JOHNSON-BURICK

Trustee Stephanie Johnson-Burick is six generations from Mesilla and is currently serving her second term as an elected official. She is the great-great-great granddaughter of Colonel Albert Jennings Fountain and her great-grandfather, Albert J. Fountain, served as the first mayor of Mesilla. Trustee Johnson-Burick received her undergraduate degrees from New Mexico State University in Criminal Justice and Psychology and has of Master of the Arts in Education. She is currently employed with Doña Ana County as a Recruiter and Trainer. She is committed to serving the residents of this community and doing so with transparency, ethics and integrity. She believes in preserving our rich legacy of history and culture to benefit future generations to come.

TRUSTEE ADRIANNA MERRICK

Trustee Adrianna Merrick was raised with a deep appreciation for the culture and history, she spent memorable summers with her grandparents in Mesilla. Inspired by the rich heritage of this charming town, she moved here permanently in 2010, and resides in the rural farm area with her daughter Ariyah. Motivated by a desire to preserve the legacy her grandparents built after moving to Mesilla when her mother was young. She has been actively involved in community initiatives to help share the unique experience Mesilla has to offer.

Adrianna has been in the hospitality business for six years after taking over Don Felix Cafe, built by her grandfather in 2001. She has dedicated herself to creating delightful dining experiences by using flavors common in the area  and flavors she grew up with in new and unique  ways

With a vision for sustainable growth, Adrianna strives to balance economic development while safeguarding the traditions that define Mesilla. Her commitment extends to fostering strong community ties, ensuring that the generations returning to Mesilla feel a deep connection to their roots and actively contribute to preserving the town’s unique history.

TRUSTEE GERARD NEVAREZ

Gerard “Jerry” Nevarez has been involved with the Town of Mesilla for approximately eight years. He served on the Town’s Planning, Zoning and Historical Appropriateness Commission and was elected Trustee in the November 2023 election.
He received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Public Administration degrees from New Mexico State University. He has held varied positions in the public sector. He served as Assistant Area Director with the NM Department of Labor (now Workforce Solutions), EEO and Training Officer with the City of Las Cruces and Executive Director with the NMSU Office of Institutional Equity.
His family roots run deep in Mesilla. During his tenure as Trustee, he would like to focus on preservation (both structural and cultural), community
wellbeing/quality of life issues, responsiveness and transparency.
